A.J. Graves struggled on offense for most of the night. When it counted the most, he came through. The senior guard sank a 35-foot shot at the buzzer to lift No. 16 Butler to a 57-55 win over Southern Illinois on Friday night. Graves came into the game as the leading scorer for Butler (12-1). But Southern Illinois (5-6) held him to seven points over 33 minutes until the final play.

Gillispie off to bad start at Kentucky (AP)

Three pictures on the cover of the Kentucky basketball media guide seem to capture the first 10 games of Billy Gillispie's tenure at one of college basketball's most demanding jobs. In one, Gillispie is clapping his hands, staring intently into the distance. The two above it are of senior guards Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley.

Led by Derrick Low's 16-first half points and a stifling defense, the Cougars (11-0) jumped out to a commanding early lead and coasted the rest of the way in beating Idaho State 75-45.

Oakland stuns No. 23 Oregon 68-62 (AP)

Greg Kampe has been coaching at little-known Oakland University longer than any of his players have been alive. None of it prepared him for Saturday night. His Golden Grizzlies overcame a 20-0 second-half run and stunned No. 23 Oregon 68-62 — the first win over a top-25 team in school history. Kampe started at Oakland in 1984, when the program was still in Division II and called the Pioneers.

No. 9 Mich. St. tops No. 4 Texas 78-72 (AP)

A 6-foot, 180-pound point guard could not be stopped during the pivotal part of the Texas-Michigan State game. And, it wasn't D.J. Augustin. Freshman Kalin Lucas scored a career-high 18 points, including a pair of acrobatic layups in a key first-half run, to lead the ninth-ranked Spartans to a 78-72 win Saturday night over the fourth-ranked Longhorns.
