If you are a Die-Hard fan of the modernized cricket and you enjoyed the glamour & excitement that came along with the Indian Premier League – Then you have a reason to cheer about. The most anticipated IPL is back to make the country go crazy in 2010.
There are 97 players who have registered for the IPL 2010 auction. The list of players includes a maximum of 26 players from Pakistan, 17 from Sri Lanka, 12 from South Africa, 9 from New Zealand, 9 from Australia, 8 from West Indies, 8 from England, 2 from Bangladesh, 2 from Zimbabwe, 2 from Canada, 1 Ireland and 1 from the Netherlands. The players will be listed in the January 19th auction if the franchises express interest in them. Last year in 2009, out of 100 that registered 50 were in auction.
The 2009 Ashes series between Britain and Australia will mark the newest chapter in a time old competition between the 2 oldest Test countries in Cricket.
Arguably the most significant, and entertaining Test series on the Cricketing calendar, the Ashes commenced in 1882 thanks to an obituary broadcast in British paper, ‘The Sporting times’ saying that British cricket had died following Britain’s loss to Australia in the 1882 series at the Oval.
From then on, the English made it their duty to regain the Ashes from the clutches of an Australian side that would later establish itself as the best Cricketing nation on the planet.
I love live cricket. Nothing for me is more exciting then settling down to watch the old bat and ball. I prefere it greatly to football. Back in the day I was a pretty nifty player, however don’t think I could last very long in a real live cricket game today!
As far as cricket greats like Ian Botham and Shane Warne go, I am far from it, but this didn’t stop me picking up my bat and heading towards the crease.
Sport is a funny old drug.
