Comets 92, Mercury 75 (AP)

Penny Taylor scored 26 points to lead the Phoenix Mercury to a 92-75 win over the Houston Comets on Saturday night. Kelly Mazzante added 15 points as the Mercury snapped Houston's four-game home winning streak and did so without star guard Diana Taurasi, who completed her two-game league suspension on Saturday.

Former Vanderbilt pitcher wins baseball's award for top amateur (AP)

Former Vanderbilt pitcher David Price won the Golden Spikes Award on Saturday as the nation's best amateur baseball player. Taken first in the draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Price was a finalist in 2006 for the award, given out annually by USA Baseball. Price, the first Golden Spikes Award winner from Vanderbilt, finished his junior season with an 11-1 record, a 2.63 ERA and 194 strikeouts.
